Wednesday Evening Drum and Rhythm Classes for youth at our Port Arthur school location!
(Centre of Change -formerly Hillcrest Highschool Room #402)
These great group classes were designed to be the ultimate feel-good introduction to learning essential musical skills and to encourage a feeling of success in music with carefully chosen instruments, activities and songs.
Participants learn how to work together in music and how to play hand drums, stick drums, hand percussion and mallet percussion. Fantastic for beginners (and beyond). These affordable classes help to instantly build practical, and transferable musical skills. (Focusing, following, blending, leading, pattern recognition, musical memory, expressing emotions and musical motor control). Classes are filling upso call now!
Youth Drum Classes for Kids:
Youth Drum Classes are based on Sean Jesseau’s 30+ years of drumming experience and 13 years of development in local schools. These courses offer a rhythmic foundation for lifelong music-making. Kids feel successful instantly with specially chosen instruments; Djembe, Conga, Mallets, Marimba, Drum Set and more! (These instruments are never out of tune and don’t squeak or make you cringe! Also none of these instruments require highly developed fine motor control, since they are easy to play and always sound good, we get to focus on music, musical forms and tons of fun ways to actually play in a group from day one!) The motor control aspect is critical; these instruments all offer a big target to hit. Fun and accomplishment is guaranteed!
We run two classes on Wednesdays for kids.
7-10 years - RhythmPlay
6:30-7:10pm for 12 weeks. $240 Starts Feb 1st.
10-14 years - RhythmSection
7:30-8:30 pm for 12 weeks. $240.00 Starts Feb. 1st.
Small classes, limited availability. Similar instruments as above, occasionally augmented with electric bass guitars and pianos! The older kids are able to take on more challenging arrangements (memorization) and instrumental (motor) skills.
Instrument purchase is not necessary for either class but we can recommend a small drum and take home materials.
